SUBJECT: iPhone Help!
Hi guys,
I’m working on this week’s update for you! I can’t wait to share it!
Today has been a beautiful day but it’s a little chilly out. It’s only gonna get colder around here!
Do you all have anything exciting planned for the weekend? I’m not sure what we’ll do. Hopefully we can find some trouble to get into. Hopefully. :)
Quick question to all of you iPhone users out there. I have a first generation iPhone and want to upgrade to the iPhone 3G. How can I get all of my contacts from my old iPhone to the new one? I want the complete contact info. I’ve been reading and asking and it seems there is no way to transfer the entire contact list over to the new iPhone from the old one!! When I say entire contact list I mean that I have all the phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, notes, etc. transferred over. There’s gotta be a way! I don’t want to manually enter all my contacts – that would take forever!!! Help!
Have a great day and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
~Kisses, Allie

Why don't you just sync your Iphone with Outlook and transfer contacts and calender etc etc, and then sync it back to the new Iphone 3G? / johnne26@brikks.com
Hi John, I got your email concerning this. Unfortunately that method does not sync over everything.

Hey Allie,
Here is what I did.
If you can get your sim card from your 1st Gen iPhone, and then insert it into your iPhone 3g, and under Settings, and contacts, there is an option to import contacts/info from your sim card. That is what I did, and it worked out pretty well (suprisingly). To get your sim you have to open the sim tray with a paper clip.
Hi shanhamm23, Does it actually transfer over everything? Like all the contact fields I’ve created and the notes, etc.? I don’t want to enter anything! I just want it all to be there! Thanks for your help!

Hope these more tech-savvy guys have been able to help you. When it comes to computers, I'm just lucky to be able to point and click and, with phones, I just upgraded from my rotary dial :)! Please keep your wintry weather in Colorado for a few months longer--Halloween is too soon to see snowflakes, though some of the local stores already feature Christmas stuff. So you enjoy the taste of elk? Do they have those in Colorado, too? And finally, as promised, I'm here to report that I've returned to resume masturbating to you as I promised on Monday. Love your recent pictorials and videos, which, of course, continue to give me no end of pleasure!
Hi Hoosier, haha, I’m not as tech savvy as I would like to be either. I consider myself pretty bright when it comes to technology but it seems I’ve hit a roadblock on the iPhone issue.
Yes, we have a ton of elk!
I’ll be looking out for your report!

Hi Allie
Found this info. from a friend :)
Here is how to back up your iPhone contacts on a PC.
- Open i-tunes on your computer that you sync it to
- Plug in your phone to the computer
- open "Address book" window's address book program. Kinda lame, but it works. Its under start-programs-accessories
- Back to iTunes, click on the phone icon on the left
- Click on the Info, and under "Contacts" (the first one) check "sync contacts from" and then pick "Windows address book" from the drop down menu
- Click all contacts
- Then at the bottom right of iTunes, click "Sync" It will ask you if you want to merge or replace. Make sure you select "MERGE" or it will delete your contacts on the phone.
Thats it, check your Windows Address Book and everything should be there. All the numbers and emails that you have put so much time into adding to your phone. Pretty nice. So, from now on, if you add contacts to the phone it will back up to the Computer and the Computer's Address book (if changed) adds new contacts. Hope this helps.
Best Regards
Tony
Hi Tbone, yes, unfortunately that does not import everything. Thanks for your help!

Hey Allie
Sorry to add more but found this pretty cool site to support backup/recovery and wanted to share with you:)
http://www.iphonehacks.com/2008/05/iphone-backups.html
"You can use iTunes to sync content on your computer (such as music, podcasts, videos, ringtones1, photos, email account settings, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks) with your iPhone or iPod touch. Syncing makes sure this content is the same on your iPhone or iPod touch and computer. You can also use iTunes to create a backup of settings and certain other information on your iPhone or iPod touch to use in case you want to restore the software on your iPhone or iPod touch or transfer this information to a different device. Backup information includes information such as mail settings, text messages, notes, call history, contact favorites, sound settings, widget settings, certain network settings, and other preferences."
Best Regards and XOXOXO
Tony
Hi again Tbone, Same situation. Doesn’t import everything exactly the way it should be. Leaves out info, etc. *sigh*
Thanks again for your help!
